About

Built around one kind of house

Most blinds companies serve a whole city and treat every window the same. We went the other way. Silver Lakes Blinds concentrates on the golf and security estates of Pretoria East — Silver Lakes first, then Woodhill, The Wilds, Six Fountains, Boardwalk Meander and Mooikloof — because the houses here share a very particular set of problems.

The Silver Lakes problem, in short

Big glass, pointed at a view. Entertainment wings open toward fairways and water through wide sliders and double-volume windows, which is glorious in the morning and punishing from mid-afternoon. Highveld sun is high and harsh in summer; winter brings frost-clear nights that pull heat straight out of unprotected glazing. And because these are managed estates, anything visible from outside has to sit comfortably within aesthetic guidelines.

So the specification work matters more than the sales work. A consultant comes to the house, watches how each room actually takes its light, and builds a per-window recommendation: sunscreen mesh where the view must survive, blockout where sleep matters, motorisation where the spans are too wide to reach, and exterior shading — in clean, estate-appropriate profiles — where the sun needs stopping before it touches the glass.

How we choose to operate

No showroom, no pressure calls, no fine print. Just a measure, a written quote, and work we're happy to stand behind years later.
